Thanks to its location (near the rainforest and the National Park) Deshaies is an excellent starting point for hiking.
Many hiking trails in Basse-Terre are accessible for experienced or unexperienced hikers. They will discover the rugged beauty and the natural spots of Guadeloupe.
The National Park protects the rainforest, one of the biggest and the most preserved forests in the West Indies. This is the reason why UNESCO listed the Guadeloupe Archipelago “World Biosphere Reserve” in 1992.
You will discover Guadeloupe and its rainforest thanks to its 250 km hiking trails. Walker or hiker, you will discover the rainforest, the volcano (Soufrière), the Grand Cul de Sac Marin reserve… Moreover, the wildlife is safe (no snakes !).
You will also follow historic trails for a more cultural walk.
